Perhaps you’ve heard the term “open enrollment” before. When you start your education at the Center for Employment Training (CET) through the process of open enrollment, what does that mean?
Do you need to submit your SAT scores or talk about your extracurricular activities like on a college application?
At CET, we think education should be for everyone. That’s why we have an open enrollment policy. When you are ready to change your life, here’s what that means for you.
Start Your Future—Today!
Not everyone operates on the same schedule. At CET, we believe that when our students feel ready to begin their education with us, that’s the best time for them to start! For us, this means that open enrollment means that you can start anytime.
Most of our programs take about 6 to 9 months of full-time instruction to complete. We get that not everyone’s schedule meshes with a traditional school calendar of starting in August and working through May or June. To set yourself up for success, you need to start at a time that works for you. This is why we offer open enrollment at CET; so you can start training for your new career path exactly when it’s right.
You never have to wait for the beginning of a new quarter or a new semester to dive into your training at CET. When you’re ready to start, we’re ready to help you learn!
Come As You Are
Not everyone was an academic shooting star in high school. While we have students who performed at all levels in high school, we know that high school grades don’t speak to everyone’s level of intelligence or their capabilities.
Straight-A student in high school? That’s great. Didn’t get a high school diploma or still working on your GED? That’s great too.
At CET, “open enrollment” doesn’t just mean that you can start when you like. It means that regardless of prior academic performance, we have all kinds of instructional supports in place to ensure that you develop the skills necessary to build a successful career in your chosen field. Unlike some programs that have a screened admissions program, our goal is to provide career-based learning opportunities to any student who is ready and willing to learn.
The goal of open enrollment institutions like CET is to make education accessible and affordable. We think that education is most effective when taking a holistic approach. What kinds of services do we offer for our students to make that happen?
- Vocational English and basic education in reading and math
- Personal development training like budgeting, communication training, situational, on-the-job training
- Job placement assistance
- Job retention follow-up
- Health fairs
- Job fairs
- Externships
- A strong alumni association
- Financial aid advisors at every location
How Does Open Enrollment Work at CET?
If students can start at any time, how do teachers and instructors teach each student if they are all working on their own timeline?
We keep our class sizes small—around 20 to 25 students—which means that we can provide individualized attention working with each student wherever they are in their career training process.
Even if you didn’t graduate from high school, or you don’t have your GED, we’ll work with you whenever you’re ready to start. Our admissions department will guide you through the eligibility process and help find the right path for you.
At CET, our philosophy centers around helping those who want to help themselves. We will treat you like an individual who has unique aspirations, needs, and abilities, and our open enrollment policy is a big part of making that happen. We know you might not be able to dedicate several years to gaining job skills, so we allow you to start when you’re ready and we’ll keep your training to-the-point, short-term, and intensive.
